Students of the Month

April 2010

Molly Maloney, Grade 12

Molly’s quest for knowledge is laudatory and her pursuit of it sets her apart from her peers. She maintains a high average in a challenging senior English elective course and has a better than 100% average in Participation in Government. Her perseverance, pursuit of perfection and ability to work independently makes her a shining example of a student.

Marcus Rhodes, Grade 7

Marcus’ work in Geography and Social Studies has improved tremendously. He has redoubled his efforts and stayed focused while working hard to improve his standing in class. His grades have risen dramatically and he has become a more active participant in class. Marcus has improved his effort, resulting in better grades and a more positive attitude toward his school work.

Tara Stufflebeam, Grade 8

Mrs. Starr nominated Tara because “she consistently achieves the highest score on chapter tests, is always pleasant and polite and helpful to her peers and myself in class."

Marcus King, Grade 12

Marcus is focused and hard working in Personal and Business Finance and his work shows excellent effort. He comes to class prepared to learn and asks the type of questions that stimulate good discussion among his classmates. Marcus is serious about his work and is considering pursuing a career in the business field.

In English, Marcus is very conscientious about completing his work and is a wonderful asset in class discussions. He demonstrates all of the qualities of a person who enjoys learning. With all of the extra credit he has completed, his grade is over 100.

February 2010

Tyler McHargue, Grade 7

Tyler McHargue is a conscientious student who seems to truly enjoy learning. He works hard, is always prepared and is willing to help others when necessary. His work is exemplary.

Brendan Ashley, Grade 11

Brendan Ashley’s work in English 11 is of the highest quality and he is truly interested in every topic discussed in class. He adds much to class discussions and willingly participates in class by volunteering to read aloud. Moreover, he gladly edits his written work until it meets his high standards.

Cayla HeffernJanuary 2010

Cayla Heffern, Grade 7

Cayla is a motivated student who strives for excellence no matter what she does. She completes her assignments with care and recently received a 100% for her 2nd quarter grade in Geography, taking a particular interest the novel, "Extra Credit" by Andrew Clements, which the class read. She is a role model for her classmates and is always willing to help.

Jesse TillyJesse Tilly, Grade 10

Jesse’s improvement this school year has been noted by several of his teachers. In Social Studies he shows genuine interest, bringing his unique flavor to history and demonstrating his interest. In Personal Finance he works conscientiously to complete his assignments with thought and care and in English 10, he is one of the hardest working students, revising his work many times until he gets it just the way he wants it. He has also been working hard to reactivate several clubs in the high school, with the Newspaper Club up and running and a renewed interest in the Drama and Chess Clubs. Jesse has also expressed interest in organizing a fundraiser to purchase new books for the library.
