ELEMENTARY STUDENT COUNCIL
YEAR IN REVIEW - 2007

This year’s Elementary Student Council members were very busy. They served as wonderful representatives for their classmates.

Meetings were always filled with great ideas as to how to make the school a better place to learn and grow. Ranging from 1st through 6th grade, the council members also tried to find ways to make things better for others. Throughout the year they worked hard to help those in the school, the community and beyond.

· Council members were involved in getting answers to students’ questions about the school construction process. They listened to their concerns, passed them on to the administration and board and relayed the answers back to the students

· Hundreds of dollars were collected for Ronald McDonald House in Albany. Council members took a tour of the house to see where the money goes.

· They also helped as ushers and greeters at both Holiday Concerts.

· Two Scholastic Book Fairs were sponsored by the council. The proceeds from the December book fair allowed each primary teacher to select $100 worth of books to be used in their classrooms. The June book fair, was a buy-one, get-one format and it allowed hundreds of books to be put in the hands of students to help them with their summer reading. In both fairs, council members helped the younger students with their selections and money.

· The council members also collected personal care products and bedding that was given to Joseph House in Troy, to help those who have been left homeless. Boxes were set up in school and in both Green Island churches.

Thanks to all who served this year. We look forward to those who begin their service in September.
