Class of 2007 Graduation

Congratulations to the Class of 2007! Faculty, Family & Friends – Staff & Administration all gathered to celebrate as the Class of 2007 had their Graduation Ceremony. This is the first class to graduate in the newly renovated gym. Herb Perkins, former teacher and Superintendent/Principal gave the Commencement Address. Prior to Graduation, he came in and spoke with the Seniors and found out what their hopes and fears are; at Graduation, he spoke about the hopes and fears and gave words of advice. Devan Bariteau was the soloist for the Star Spangled Banner. The Albany Chamber Musicians and Heatly’s Music Teacher, Miss Dzembo, provided the music for the ceremony.

Brian Stebbins, Valedictorian and Ty Barietau, Salutatorian, thanked their teachers, family and friends - the theme of their speeches centered on Friendships. They spoke about their definitions of friendship, and what friendships mean to them, whether it be with their peers or their teachers. Ty spoke of the stages of friendship where in Kindergarten your friend was the person who gave you their last cookie if you didn’t have a snack; in grade school it was anyone who would be friends with you; and in high school it was the person who would bring you money to tow your car – friendships are the people that are there for you. Brian spoke about being part of the New Visions program gave him an opportunity to take ‘the road not taken’ and challenge himself more to prepare for college. Looking to the future, Brian told his classmates to take the road less taken, as he read from the poem by Robert Frost, “The Road Not Taken.”

Miss Mnich was acknowledged and thanked for her many years of teaching and service to the district, by the Student, Administration and Commencement speakers.

Congratulations and Best Wishes to the Class of 2007!
