Career Day opened students’ eyes to endless opportunities
On
Dec. 4, students in grades 9-12 explored a variety of career
opportunities at the school’s annual Career Day.
Twenty-eight guests representing a wide variety of careers spent the morning interacting with students and answering questions about their work.
Students spoke informally to guests about the educational requirements, day-to-day responsibilities and pros and cons of a particular job.
“Career Day was an opportunity for students to speak with someone who knows firsthand what it is like to work every day in a particular field and who could advise them on the steps necessary to pursue a career in that field,” said Heatly Sr. High School Business Teacher and Career Day coordinator, Marilyn Michaels. “The feedback was positive from students, teachers and guests and follow-up career exploration activities will continue throughout the year.”
