Green Island merges several sports teams with Watervliet
Green Island Union Free School District and Watervliet City School District are merging several sports teams for the 2010-2011 school year. The newly merged teams will provide additional opportunities for Heatly students.
Heatly will still continue to offer its own sports teams. In fact, Watervliet students will be coming over to play on the Heatly boys' soccer teams. See a complete list of sports still being offered at Green Island Union Free School District for the 2010-2011 school year.
Listed below are the merged teams that will be available for any student in grades 7-12 who is interested in participating. These teams will be hosted by the Watervliet Athletic Department. The coaching staff will be provided by Watervliet coaches and they will be part of the Colonial Conference.
Any athlete interested in participating on these teams will be required to sign both school's Athletic Handbooks. Transportation to and from Watervliet for practices and games will be provided by Watervliet for any athlete on a daily basis.
The teams are as follows:
Modified Girls Volleyball (Grades 7 & 8)
JV Girls Volleyball
Varsity Girls Volleyball
Varsity Girls Tennis*
Co-Ed Varsity Cross Country*
(*Any student in grades 7 & 8 can be selectively classified to participate)
