Heatly High School senior Molly Maloney was recognized at the annual Scholar’s Recognition Dinner at the Desmond Hotel on April 21.

Molly was chosen by the faculty as a distinguished scholar from the Class of 2010.

"Molly exemplifies the traits of a true scholar," said Karen Hoover, high school English teacher. "Just getting good grades is not enough. She drives herself. She pushes herself. She loves learning."

Each year the Scholar’s Recognition Dinner honors more than 100 senior scholars, and some 100 teachers nominated by the scholars, in the greater Capital Region.

This year, Mrs. Hoover was chosen by Molly as her most influential teacher. This is Mrs. Hoover's seventh nomination by a scholar student.

"Mrs. Hoover constantly pushes me to strive for better, helping me develop the confidence and level of skill I need to be successful both in and outside of the classroom," said Molly.

Molly will attend Boston University next fall.

Congratulations to both Molly and Mrs. Hoover!
