Times Union honors Green Island for classroom enrichment
On
Dec. 12, the Green Island Union Free School District was recognized by
the Times Union newspaper for its dedication to using newspapers as
learning tools in the classroom.
Green Island was recognized as the “Small District of the Year” by the Classroom Enrichment Program and Shenendehowa was recognized as the “Large District of the Year.”
Greg Stapleton, director of the Classroom Enrichment Program for the Times Union, said of Green Island, “I am always amazed at the number of teachers in their school who use the program and the feedback I get from them. They are always helping us to make the program better and more beneficial for use in their classroom. In addition, they usually send a student or two to take part in our New Visions program, which allows local students to spend their senior year getting hands-on experience each day at the Times Union.”
The recognition award was presented during the "Uncork New York Gala” at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Albany.
