School lunch to increase 5 cents

The price of a school lunch for Heatly students will increase by 5 cents as of September 2011. Lunch will now cost $2.05. This increase does not affect the price of breakfast which will remain at $1.10 for all students.

The district is required to increase lunch prices as a way to comply with a section of the new Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, which is a federal initiative.

The Green Island School Board of Education recently approved the price increase.
