"Community service is an important element in the mutually beneficial and dynamic relationship between The Heatly School and the Village of Green Island - and the world beyond," says Dr. Mugits, superintendent. "Learners are encouraged to accept responsibility for improving society by contributing in experiences that make a positive difference in others. The 'Making Strides' walk is one such example."
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer allows the American Cancer Society to continue its mission to put an end to breast cancer and to diminish suffering for those afflicted by the disease. The American Cancer Society fights breast cancer on all fronts: research, education, advocacy, and patient services. The American Cancer Society is the nation's largest nongovernmental funder of cancer research and has offices in 3,400 communities across the country to assist patients and their families.
