Heatly students coordinate food drive for local pantry
On Oct. 20, members of the Heatly Girls Varsity Soccer team delivered empty bags to every household in Green Island to collect food to stock the shelves of the local food pantry.
On Saturday, the girls and Coach Brown, and several of their classmates, picked up all the donations, unpacked the bags and filled the shelves of The Food Pantry for volunteer director Maggie Alis, who is a Heatly alum.
"These young men and women and their adult supervisors are to be commended for their sense of civic responsibility and their commitment to Green Island," said Dr. Mugits, superintendent. "This is a fine example of the mutually beneficial relationship between the school district and the village."
