Students to participate in King Arthur Flour Life Skills Bread Baking Program® on Nov. 10

On Thursday, Nov. 10, Green Island students will participate in the King Arthur Flour Life Skills Bread Baking Program® and learn that with a little science, a little baking instruction, and some good flour, they can bake delicious bread!

Students in grades 4-7 will come home with flour, a recipe booklet, yeast, a bread donation bag, a dough scraper, and the know-how to make two loaves of bread from scratch. With family support, everyone benefits: one loaf will be donated to a community organization, and families will enjoy the other delicious loaf at home. It is our hope that our newly inspired bakers will experience the satisfaction of helping others.

Community members are invited to be part of this service-learning presentation on November 10 from 1-2:30 p.m. as they watch students learn the skills they need to make bread from scratch, utilizing math, science, cooking technique tips, reading, planning, creativity, nutrition lessons and more. Join us! Watch for a letter that will come home with details about the event.
