PTO Internet Safety Program

Calling all parents! Your presence is requested on Thursday February 28, 6:30 pm, in the Heatly School Library for an informational and eye-opening presentation on Internet Safety. Sponsored by Heatly’s PTO, this program is open to all parents and community members (adults only due to content). The program will be conducted by Rensselaer County Sheriff’s office in conjunction with the Green Island Police Department and Heatly School. Please join us in helping to educate the community, parents and children of the dangers in the cyber world and discover some useful tools to help keep all of our children safer. More Information.

Santa’s Workshop

The beloved Santa’s Workshop was set up again on Wednesday, December 12 by our Elementary PTO. Students in grades K – 6 were able to do some shopping for moms, dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents and friends at our Annual Santa’s Workshop. There was a broad array of items for all members of their families, in all age groups. Thanks to the PTO for this wonderful service for our kids! Thank you to all the Santa’s Helpers who were on hand to lend a hand during the day. To view more photos from the Santa’s Workshop, please visit the SnapFish Photo Gallery.

Green Island Children’s Chorus performs at Colonie Center

Students from Heatly’s Green Island Children’s Chorus performed at Colonie Center on Saturday, December 15. Songs were sung accompanied by Miss Dzembo playing the Electronic Keyboard. They performed 5 holiday songs for a large crowd of family, friends and shoppers. Beautiful job! The group’s participation is in cooperation with Colonie Center’s $chool Bucks Program, which our PTO is registered.

Monthly Meeting Dates
The 2nd Wednesday of every school month at 6:30 in the high school library.

Colonie Center’s $chool Buck$ Program
$chool Buck$ Program at Colonie Center—it’s simple—shop, see a movie (coming soon) or eat at Colonie Center now through June 2008. Before you leave, stop by the Customer Service desk located on the 1st floor. They will give you a sheet. Fill in your name, the date and your register tally for the day from each store. They will stamp your receipts. It’s that simple. Heatly is in the running for $10,000. Help us out if you can! Any question, please contact Gina DeCianni. For more information on this program, please view our $chool Buck$ flyer.

Price Chopper’s Tools for Schools Program
Not already registered? It’s simple. Go to Tools for Schools website, & register your Advantage Card with Heatly’s code number: 15887 Over the course of the past several years, Heatly has been fortunate to receive about 3 PCs, a wealth of supplies, and a digital camera (or camcorder).

Hannaford Helps Schools
When you purchase four (4) participating products, you receive one $3.00 school dollar certificate at the checkout register. If your purchase eight (8) participating products you will receive one $6.00 school dollar certificate and so on. You can either turn over these dollar certificates to your local school or donate them in-store, to the school of your choice. At the end of the 13-week program, schools turn in school dollars to the store with which they are registered. The school will receive a check for the total amount of school dollars collected during the program. In addition to the funds raised by individual schools, each Hannaford Supermarket will award a $1,000 education grant to the registered school that raises the most dollars.

Box Tops for Education
On a multitude of products from the market, there are the Box Tops for Education logos. Please cut those out, and send them in to school. We receive $.10 for each one—and they add up!

Regarding Traffic Safety Concerns
Drafted October 23, 2003

Please click here to view and print entire form
In an attempt to make our imperfect school traffic situation run smoother for everyone and create a safer school crossing for ALL our children the Village of Green Island, Heatly School and Heatly Elementary PTO have joined together to compile a list of safety rules to be implemented by Drivers/Parents/Guardians and enforced by Village Law Enforcement. We ask for everyone's cooperation in abiding by these rules and reporting anyone in violation of these rules in order to keep our children safe. Warnings and tickets will be given to anyone reported in violation of these Village school rules/laws.
