Back by popular demand, the SADD Club is organizing it’s annual Mitten Tree beginning December 3. Anyone interested in donating mittens, scarves or hats, please send them in to school, to the attention of Mr. Mattoon. All items are donated to families in need.
Originally, the mission of the SADD chapter was to help young people say "No" to drinking and driving. Today, the mission has expanded. Students have told us that positive peer pressure, role models and other strategies can help them say "No" to more than drinking and driving. And that is why SADD has become a peer leadership organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions, particularly underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving, teen violence and teen depression and suicide.
National Red Ribbon Week is the last week of October. SADD chapters are encouraged to celebrate Red Ribbon Week to symbolize their commitment to a healthy, drug-free lifestyle and to create awareness of the problems related to the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs. More teen DWI accidents occur on Halloween then other times during the year. For more information on the National SADD Campaign, please visit their website. Heatly Students will participate in SADD’s Awareness Week. Please encourage students to show their support!
