5.1.20 - Get Up And Get Moving: Mr. Mason's "Local Hiking Trails For The Family"
Hey Heatly family!
With spring here, if you're looking for a fun family activity where you can practice social distancing, here are three local hikes that are easy for students and parents, and give everyone a chance to get some fresh air!
The three trails below can be found on the All Trails app (free!)
It comes with easy to follow directions, GPS and maps to guide you. These trails are well marked and all have a manageable terrain. Be sure to give space to fellow hikers, wear proper footwear, pants and bring a bottle of water!

The first two trails are located in Rensselaer Tech Park and each follow a stream with a few waterfalls.
Bloomingdale Brook Waterfall Trail is a 1 mile loop trail.
Southern Waterfall Spur Trail is a 2 mile out and back trail.
Colonie Town Park has a Loop trail that is 1.2 miles long, as well as former snowmobiling and newer mountain biking trails that are well-marked.
4.14.20 - NYS extended Special Enrollment Period for families

New York State has extended the Special Enrollment Period to May 15th. This means that Fidelis Care representatives can now assist individuals and families over-the-phone state-wide. There are families affected by the COVID Pandemic with the loss of a job, or income and are worried about losing their health care coverage. In many situations, they will now qualify for low- or no-cost health insurance, and we can help them navigate through all the options and assist them in every step of the way. 3.26.20 - Heatly breakfast/lunch delivery, families can sign up now
Heatly offers delivery to homes twice a week. Student meals are delivered directly to families, free of charge, each Monday and Thursday between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., while Heatly is closed. Each delivery will contain 2 or 3 days’ worth of breakfast and lunch and will be left on doorsteps or at mailboxes.
Families may sign-up to receive meal deliveries at any time, by calling the main office at 518-273-1422 ext. 9. Any sign-ups received after Friday, March 27 will be processed and the district will begin delivery to those families the following week.

3.25.20 - If you are a parent or caregiver who needs child care, please complete this "Parent Need For Child Care" survey.
Based on the information you provide about your job, employer, number of children, and financial need, OCFS may be able to help you find the child program you need. It may be a challenge to find child care due to COVID-19 related program closures, however the staff at OCFS are trying their best to support families to find the high quality child care that they need.

3.23.20 - Capital District YMCA School-Age Childcare
Now Covers “Essential” Workers, New Locations, a Daily
Rate — Financial Assistance Offered!
ALBANY, NY (March 23, 2020) — The Capital District YMCA has extended care to cover “essential” workers. In addition to licensed health professionals such as physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, LPNs, there are many other “essential” workers.
