    4.1.20 -  Message For Parents

As you are likely aware, on March 27, Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order closing schools until at least April 15.

During this time, schools are required to provide continuity of instruction, meals for students and childcare resources every weekday, including days originally part of the previously scheduled spring break.

f the closure is not extended, we will return to school on-site on April 15. We will continue to monitor all available guidance and directives and keep you informed if this changes.

Please visit our website for the following information  https://www.greenisland.org/

    • Instructional resources and information for students and families;
    • Meal distribution times and locations; and
    • Childcare resources for families of essential workers.

We recognize that this is a stressful and challenging situation. We’re here to support you through it, and know that you are managing many personal and professional responsibilities. We would like to remind you of something that we often tell our students: All we can do is our best. We’ll get through this together.

Thank you all for your continued patience, understanding and support

3.26.20 - Breakfast and Lunch Program Update

Heatly transitioning “grab and go” meals to delivery, families can sign up now

Starting Monday, March 30, Heatly will transition our student breakfast and lunch program from “grab and go” pickup to home delivery, twice a week. Student meals will be delivered directly to families, free of charge, each Monday and Thursday between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., while Heatly is closed. Each delivery will contain 2 or 3 days’ worth of breakfast and lunch. Please understand that any such delivery will have the meals left on doorsteps or at mailboxes. We cannot have personnel entering homes or engaging in contact with family members given the health conditions.

Families may sign-up to receive meal deliveries at any time, by calling the main office at 518-273-1422 ext. 9 OR sign up when you pick up your meals at the “grab and go” center for the remainder of the week. In order to receive the first shipment of meals on Monday, March 30, please be sure to call by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 27. Any sign-ups received after Friday, March 27 will be processed and the district will begin delivery to those families the following week.

If you have any questions please reach out to Mrs. Mazzeo at jmazzeo@greenisland.org

To provide childcare scholarship assistance for essential personnel during these

guardians have no choice but to report to work.

“This is an opportunity for us to come together for our first responders, medical
professionals, and essential workers, and help care for their children and lighten their
financial burden, as they must report to work and keep our community healthy and
safe,” noted Capital District YMCA President David Brown.
