A message from the superintendent

Dear Heatly Families,

I am writing to address a student walkout, consisting of less than 25 students, that occurred this afternoon outside the school building. In an effort to maintain an open dialogue and ensure our learners have a voice, I have met numerous times with these students over the last six months. Prior to the walkout, other administrators met with them to discuss their concerns about changes in staffing and the school environment. We support them in their effort to be heard and their passion for change.

As so many other districts are experiencing, the pandemic has directly impacted the students and staff at Heatly. Despite these challenges, the district is striving to bring the best educational opportunities to learners. Our school district is committed to equity and listening to the school community. Heatly leaders will continue to meet regularly with members of the senior class and stakeholders to hear their concerns and work together to find positive and productive solutions.

Thank you for your continued support as we continue to navigate current challenges and to work toward a better, brighter Heatly.

Thank you,

Kimberly Ross

Superintendent of Schools
