Remote learning day tomorrow, Mon. 01/10

COVID screening clinic on Tuesday, Jan. 11 at Heatly School from 7:30AM to 8:30AM using the Rapid BinaxNow Test.Dear Heatly Families,

As we stated in our previous communication, there has been a steady increase in the number of positive COVID cases. After reviewing the most recent case data and staffing, Heatly has decided to make tomorrow, Jan. 10 a remote learning day for grades Pre-K through 12. Students in grades 7-12 will be required to follow their bell schedule and should log in for synchronous instruction for the entire period. Elementary students will follow the same schedule from Friday, Jan. 7. A grab-and-go lunch will be offered to those who request it. Please call the Main Office at 518-273-1422 by 9:00 A.M. tomorrow morning to reserve lunch. Pick up will begin at 11:00 A.M. in the Main Office.

The district plans to reopen the Elementary school for grades Pre-K through 6 on Tuesday, Jan. 11. Reopening for secondary students will be determined tomorrow, Jan. 10 upon further evaluation of cases and staffing.

While we know in-person learning is the most effective for students, we also have to ensure the health and safety of everyone in the school community. If your child is experiencing symptoms, please follow guidelines provided by the Albany County Health Department and get tested. Heatly will be holding another COVID screening clinic on Tuesday, Jan. 11 from 7:30 A.M. to 8:30 A.M. using the Rapid BinaxNow test. The test is free and no registration is required. Testing is also offered at the district on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Positive cases should be reported to the health department as well as Nurse Valentine at kvalentine@greenisland.org.

The district will continue to monitor the situation closely and will update the community with new information as soon as it becomes available. As always, Green Island UFSD remains unwavering in its commitment to providing a safe, healthy learning environment and ensuring our school community is at its best.

Heatly is here for you and your family. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the District office at 518-273-1422.

Sincerely,

Tiffany Dzembo
Assistant Superintendent
