Update on in-person vs. remote instruction for week of Jan. 10
Dear Heatly Families,
After reviewing the latest data and staffing, the district has formulated a plan outlining instruction for students this week as the number of positive COVID cases continue to rise.
Beginning tomorrow, Jan. 11 Elementary students (grades Pre-K to 6) will return to in-person instruction. The building will open as early as 7:15 A.M. due to the cold weather. A reminder that we offer free breakfast to all of our students daily.
Students in grades 7-12 will continue with remote learning through Wednesday, Jan. 12. In-person instruction for secondary students will resume on Thursday, Jan. 13. Students will be required to follow their bell schedule and should log in for synchronous instruction for the entire period. A grab-and-go lunch will be offered to those who request it. Please call the office at 518-273-1422 by 9:00 A.M. tomorrow morning to reserve lunch. Pick up will be at the Main Office beginning at 11:00 A.M.
While we know in-person learning is the most effective for students, we also have to ensure the health and safety of everyone in the school community. If your child is experiencing symptoms, please follow guidelines provided by the Albany County Health Department and get tested. Heatly will be holding another COVID screening clinic tomorrow, Jan. 11 from 7:30 A.M. to 8:30 A.M. using the Rapid BinaxNow test. The test is free and no registration is required but students must be accompanied by a parent.
PCR testing is also offered at the district on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Registration for the PCR test is required on the Quadrant website prior to testing. Registration cannot be done at the testing site. Positive cases should be reported to the health department as well as Nurse Valentine at email@example.com.
The district will continue to monitor the situation closely and will update the community with new information as soon as it becomes available. As always, Green Island UFSD remains unwavering in its commitment to providing a safe, healthy learning environment and ensuring our school community is at its best.
Heatly is here for you and your family. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the District office at 518-273-1422.
