Third grader Kinsley Iannone holding her poster design with Watervliet Elks Lodge members Nancy Caswell and Bob PassonnoThird grader Kinsley Iannone turned a blank canvas into a work of art with her poster design for the Watervliet Elks Lodge’s drug awareness poster contest. Her design won second place among students from Green Island, Watervliet and Menands school districts.

The poster contest was open to third, fourth and fifth grade students within the Watervliet Elks district. This year’s theme was “The Best Me is Drug Free”. When it came to designing a poster, the creativity of students was limitless as long as the poster did not include copyrighted characters and matched the following criteria:

  • Closeness to the theme;
  • Neatness;
  • Originality; and
  • Correct grammatical structure.

For her award-winning design, Kinsely received a $50 gift card to Walmart and congratulations from Watervliet Elks Lodge members Nancy Caswell and Bob Passonno (pictured)
