7th and 8th grade students to return to school in-person four days a week effective Nov. 23

Nov. 6, 2020

Dear Heatly families,

As we are nearing the end of the first quarter because and able to keep all of our students and staff members safe, we would like to phase in our 7th and 8th grade students attending school in-person four days a week beginning Monday, Nov. 23. In addition to keeping all the staff and students safe, this decision was made to ensure the best educational experience for our students. After reviewing the five week progress reports, many of our remote and hybrid learners academic achievement gaps have widened. To close the achievement gaps, we believe these students will benefit from four days of in-person learning. We will also ensure that adding students to our building for additional days will continue to comply with all COVID-19 protocols we have put in place.

This transition will begin at the start of the second quarter (Nov. 23) for our 7th and 8th grade students (four days a week). Our 7th and 8th grade students will attend in person every day except Wednesday beginning Nov. 23. Even though I encourage you to enroll your child for in-person learning, parents will continue to have a choice if they prefer their child to participate in the full remote learning model. Switching to remote learning is a commitment for the entire quarter. Parents of 7th and 8th graders have until Friday, Nov. 13 to change their child's learning option.

The schedules for our Pre-K-6 and 9-12 students will remain the same.

I hope you have been able to enjoy the beautiful weather this week and are able to get outside this weekend! I would like to thank you for your continued support.

Please reach out if you have any questions.
