What do you like about teaching?
I like helping students to be excited about learning and seeing their "aha" moments.

What made you want to become a teacher?
I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was little. I used to play school with my dolls all the time.

If you could teach a different subject area, what would it be and why?
AIS because I really enjoyed that part of my master's program.

When you were in high school, what did you want to be when you “grew up?”
Teacher

I wouldn't say it is unusual, but I worked at an adventure camp one summer where I was able to do ropes courses and go on a camping trip, so that was pretty cool.

Elizabeth Grolley Mrs. Elizabeth Grolley, 4th grade teacher

Mrs. Grolley received her bachelor's and master's degrees from SUNY Plattsburgh in childhood educations (1-6) and curriculum and instruction, respectively. Mrs. Grolley has 13 years of hands-on teaching experience and classroom management.

What do you like about teaching?
I love the moments when you see concepts click for students. The times when the joy of what they accomplished and persevered through can be seen in their expression and reaction.

What made you want to become a teacher?
I became a teacher because my parents were teachers, and I saw how much they enjoyed it and how rewarding it was for them. To be a part of a students journey to discover their own potential, and to encourage them daily towards achieving THEIR personal best is a gift.

If you could teach a different subject area, what would it be and why?
I would probably extend my certification into ELA at the secondary level and teach English 7-9. My concentration area was English when I obtained my bachelors and I always wanted to try out teaching in older grade levels.

When you were in high school, what did you want to be when you “grew up?”
I was pretty confident from a young age I wanted to be a teacher. As an elementary student my parents both worked at my school and I would go with them every morning and I just thought, "wow they have the best jobs in the whole world! I want to do that someday!"

What is the most unusual job you’ve ever had?
I'm not sure it is so unusual, but I'd have to say being a telemarketer in college was probably my LEAST favorite job. People did not like to be disturbed at home.

What would your students be surprised to know about you?
I LOVE to sing and when I was 17 I auditioned for the part of Dorothy at Madison Square Garden in NYC. I also sing on stage often now as an adult.
