The Green Island Union Free School District has confirmed today, Jan. 6, that a member of our school community has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual has been placed in isolation and will not return to a district building until they are cleared by the health department. This individual was last in the building on Wednesday, Dec. 23. As a result, there are no school contacts related to this case.
While we understand that you would like additional details, we are not permitted by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws to identify students or staff members involved.
As a reminder, each of our school buildings are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected each evening in accordance with guidance from the CDC and the New York State Department of Health.
At this time, our school remains open for in-person instruction. We continue to work closely with the Albany County Department of Health and we will follow their guidance on how to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
