Fill out the free and reduced-price meal application
Feb. 16, 2021
Do you need to complete and submit a free and reduced-price meal application? If your family is eligible for the 2020-21 school year, here are the additional benefits of completing the application, even though the federal government is allowing free breakfast and lunch for all students of all districts for the 2020-21 school year:
Students who request fee waivers for things like AP exams or college applications will not qualify for the fee waiver if they do not have a current application on file.
If the federal government decides to release a new batch of P-EBT Food benefit cards to families during the pandemic, like they did over the summer, they may not qualify if there is not a current application on file.
A current application will allow students to be temporarily eligible for the first 30 operational days of the next school year 2021-22. This will buy families time to put in a new application for next year once the reapplication process begins over the summer.
