Green Island Union Free School District is proud to recognize Director of Behavioral Health,
Jodi Mazzeo, as the recipient of the Excellence in District Administrative Leadership Award.
This well-deserved honor was presented at the CASDA Annual Awards and Friends of
Education Dinner, where Superintendent Dr. Dan Kalbfliesh highlighted Jodi’s exceptional
contributions to the district:
“It’s my honor to recognize Jodi Mazzeo for the Excellence in District Administrative
Leadership Award.
As Director of Behavioral Health, Jodi leads some of the most critical and complex work in our
district. She oversees a $1.4 million NYS Mental Health grant with precision and purpose,
ensuring that every dollar is aligned to improving student outcomes and expanding access to
mental health supports. At the same time, she manages the full scope of our special education
services—an area that requires not only deep expertise, but compassion, responsiveness, and an
ability to collaborate with many local districts.
What sets Jodi apart is her ability to turn vision into action. She has been instrumental in
developing and strengthening special education programming within the district, creating
systems that better serve students while building staff capacity and ensuring compliance. Her
work is thoughtful, strategic, and always centered on what is best for kids.
Simply put, Jodi Mazzeo makes our district stronger. Her leadership has a direct and lasting
impact on students, families, and the entire school community.
Congratulations, Jodi, on this well-deserved recognition.”
