Green Island, NY — May 8th, 2026 – The Green Island Union Free School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeffrey Simons as Interim Superintendent for the 2026–2027 school year. Mr. Simons will provide experienced leadership and continuity as the District continues its focus on student achievement, staff support, and organizational stability.
Mr. Simons brings a wealth of educational leadership experience to Green Island, with a proven track record of guiding school districts through periods of transition while maintaining a strong focus on teaching and learning. His collaborative leadership style and commitment to fostering positive school cultures align closely with the District’s core values and the “Heatly Way,” which emphasizes trust, professionalism, communication, and feedback.
