GREEN ISLAND, NY — October 6, 2025 — The Green Island community came together on Sunday, October 5th, for the 2nd Annual “Step Up. Stand Out. Green Island Walks to Make a Difference,” a two-mile community walk held at Paine Street Park in support of Breast Cancer Awareness and the Green Island Food Pantry.
The event, which drew students, families, staff, and neighbors from across the Village, celebrated strength, unity, and hope in the fight against breast cancer. Participants honored survivors, remembered those lost, and supported families affected by the disease—all while collecting non-perishable food items to benefit the local food pantry.
“This walk is more than steps,” said organizers. “It’s a symbol of hope, courage, and the reminder that no one fights alone. Today, we walk with purpose, pride, and hope for a brighter future.”
The morning featured raffles, music, kettle corn, and lemonade, with all proceeds donated to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. The event was made possible through a strong partnership among the Green Island Union Free School District, the Village of Green Island, local businesses, and dedicated community members.
Sponsors included TFB Development, GS Kettle Corn, and The Village of Green Island, who joined in showing their commitment to awareness, compassion, and community service.
There was no registration fee for the event; instead, attendees were encouraged to bring food donations for the pantry—another way for Green Island to “make a difference” together.
