Heatly Community Closet

Green Island UFSD is committed to ensuring that every student begins the day feeling confident, supported, and ready to learn. Originally envisioned by our former grades 9–12 Student Voices group as a judgment-free space where peers could access what they need, the Heatly Community Closet now stands as a daily reminder of our school’s commitment to care, connection, and belonging.

What began less than a year ago as a single clothing rack has quickly grown into a fully stocked and thoughtfully organized space. Thanks to the generosity of the Heatly community, the closet now offers clothing sorted by gender and size, multiple shelving units for footwear, a cabinet stocked with hygiene essentials, and a wide range of school supplies. Every donation has helped transform this idea into a meaningful support system for our students.
What does the Community Closet offer?

  • Everyday clothing in a wide range of sizes
  • Coats, hats, gloves, and seasonal items
  • Shoes and sneakers in many sizes
  • Hygiene and personal care products
  • Backpacks
  • Basic school supplies

As a parent, can I request a specific item my child may need?
